Hope Notes 5-31-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~
If anyone missed the service last Sunday, please be sure to stop by the sound table and pick up a copy of the cd.  You can also link directly to Hope's website to listen to the message at http://www.hopechristianfellowship.org
Pastor Mark's reminders of the little things we all need to be doing to keep Hope a vital ministry are so important.  You really don't want to miss this message!

SUNDAY SERVICE
A Heart Filled with Peace (Col 3:15-17)
Need a break?  We're all looking for some peace in our hearts.  Some of us try to avoid this problem by being so busy, we never have to look inside.  Others of us fret over the turmoil inside to the point that we spiral downward into depression.  And most of us believe that we're not normal, since everyone else seems to have more peace in their lives than we do!  God wants to GIVE us peace to the depths of our soul - RIGHT NOW!  Will we let Him?

BIBLE READING FOR JUNE - 2 PETER
Peter challenges us to take seriously God's call to live a life pleasing to Him.  The day will come when the heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.  "Since everything around us is going to melt away," Peter asks, "what holy, godly lives you should be living!  You should look forward to that day and hurry it along."  Pretty good advice!

A Family in Need

Hi Everyone!

I would like to ask you all to pray for a family who is in financial need at the moment.  God has brought them through many difficult times, and there seems to be an answer to their financial struggle in the near future.  But at the moment, they are a little bit short on money.  Specifically, we need to get $300 by Sunday so that they can complete their rent payment.

If someone feels led to personally meet this need, please let me know right away by email or phone.  Otherwise, we will take a benevolent offering this Sunday to try to raise the $300 needed.  I will invite you to give as you can to meet this need.

Thank you!
Pastor Mark

Hope Notes 5-25-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~
This is a very important Sunday for Hope.  Pastor Mark will be sharing his heart about where we stand in our process of growth, and what obstacles we must overcome to continue in health and strength.  It's a holiday weekend, but please make every effort to come.  If you're going to be away, or serving in kid's ministry, you can pick up a copy of the cd or listen to the service online.

SUNDAY SERVICE
Communion Sunday - "Community in Communion"
Communion is always a very special time at Hope.  Please be sure to join us as we remember just exactly what Jesus did for us on the cross.  This Sunday, Pastor Mark shares how each person can have a major part in helping us see Hope explode!  There are simple, easy things you can do that will have a huge impact on the feel, energy, and outlook of Hope.

BIBLE READING FOR MAY - 1 SAMUEL
If this book gives us one vital message, it is this: There is no limit to what a person committed to God can do. Remember the battle between the boy David and the giant Goliath?  You'll find that story in Chapter 17.  Samuel (whose name means "asked of God") was a courageous prophet and the man who crowned Israel's first two kings, one of whom was David.

This Sunday!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick note to remind you all that this Sunday is a very important day for Hope.  I will be sharing my heart about where we stand in our process of growth, and what obstacles we must overcome to continue in health and strength.

I know that it is a holiday weekend, and many of you have plans to be away.  I would just ask that those of you who can be there will make every effort to join us.  And if you are serving in kids ministry or just away for the weekend, make sure to get a copy of the service either online or by way of CD.

I'll start with a brief update on our buiding situation, which is quite encouraging.  But then I want to share how each person can have a major part in helping us see Hope explode.  It doesn't matter how long you've been coming, how involved you are, or even how much you can give - you can do some simple and easy things that will have a huge impact on the feel, energy, and outlook of Hope.  If we had enough money right now to go buy a piece of land and start building tomorrow, these things would still need to come into focus for our church to accomplish what God has called us to do!

Please join us and prayerfully prepare your hearts to rise to meet the challenges that lay before us!

Thank you!
Pastor Mark

PS - don't forget Wed night Bible study at my house.  Genesis has been so interesting and so much fun, I feel bad for those of you who haven't been able to make it.  It's light out longer at this time of year, and school gets out soon, so join us whenever you can!

Hope Notes 5-10-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~

Mother's Day is always a special day at Hope.  You don't have to BE a mother to enjoy the service.  We all have mothers to honor, to remember, to be thankful for.  Even if our moms are no longer with us,  we can still honor their memory.  We often have women who are not blood related, but are very much LIKE a mother to us.  God has graciously given us moms to care for us and to love us.  Let us remember to thank Him on this special day, as well.

SUNDAY SERVICE
Mother's Day - Who Wants Me?
We all have our secret doubts and fears.  For many of our mothers, there is a nagging doubt as to whether they are desirable to anyone.  This comes from a natural need to be loved and wanted.  For many women, this desire becomes a desperate, driving force in their lives to find someone who wants them.  What does God say about this and how did He design for this need to be met?  Understanding this truth is key to a joy filled life!

BIBLE READING FOR MAY - 1 SAMUEL

Hope needs help with finding the right location for our home.  We want to put together a team that will meet on a regular basis and work through the maze of possibilities to find what is right for us!  We are looking for people who have some expertise in areas that would be helpful as we evaluate potential buildings for our church home such as real estate, construction, township zoning & building codes.  If anyone has "connections" that might help us with the process, that would be great!  Anyone interested should see Bob Baumiester.

CORRECTIONS to yesterday's Hope Notes

Hi Everyone

I need to make a correction and an addition to the prayer requests from yesterday's Hope Notes.

I want to thank everyone for their concern for Tom Hickey and his family as they mourn the loss of his mother this past week.  I had wrongly reported that the memorial service was yesterday.  It is in fact this Sunday the 6th from 2-5 pm at Tom's sister's house.  Tom has told me that anyone is welcome to come and be with them in this time, but understands that the distance makes it difficult for many to be there in person.  Her address is 141 Chicago Ave, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215.  Please note this change and let us continue to pray for this family!  And I'd invite anyone who could be a part of the memorial service to go and show their support for Tom and Ang!

Also, please pray for Angela Hickey - she is laid up with continuing problems with her back.  Please keep her in prayer.

One last request.  My grandfather, Anthony Petrillo, was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with pneumonia.  He is in his late 80s and has issues with his lungs besides the pneumonia.  They have put him on anitbiotics, and he is seeming to do better, but is still very weak.  I would appreciate your prayers for him and for his health!

Thanks everyone!  I am looking forward to seeing all of you at our house tonight at 7 pm!  Bring a snack and let's enjoy a great time of fellowship together!
