Denise Harris' Dad

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to let everyone know to be praying for Denise Harris and her family on the loss of her father yesterday.  We've been praying for her dad for a while, and he had recently undergone successful brain surgery.  However, he had a massive heart attack on Sunday and passed away.  Please keep Denise and her family in prayer.

The services will be at Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004 on Thursday, August 2.  Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, with a memorial service at 4 pm.

Thank you all for your concern!
Pastor Mark

Hope Notes 7-26-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~
Stand firm, brothers and sisters-in-Christ!  Don't let Satan lure you away from worship............tempting you with lazy summer days, golf games, and days at the beach.  God gives us so much - He never takes a vacation from us.  The least we can do is offer Him our worship on Sundays!

LADIES BIBLE STUDY - THIS SATURDAY !

SUNDAY SERVICE
The Faith Diet (Daniel 1:8-20)
So many different diets are out there today; which ones have you tried?  I bet you've never tried the faith diet that Daniel used!  Although this certainly involved food, and choosing to eat one type of food over another, the bigger point is that this diet was driven by Daniel's faith and conviction in what God had told him to do.  Are we willing to live by faith in a way that impacts the daily choices we make - even ones that seem to put us at a disadvantage?  The courage Daniel shows springs from an unshakable trust in God; one that each of us need in our lives!

ATTENTION ALL ABLE-BODIED MOVERS!!
HELP NEEDED THIS SUNDAY !!
Bill & Melissa McGinness need some help with their upcoming move.  They need help loading their truck Sunday, July 29th from 1:30 till it's done.  Then, on Monday, July 30th they need help unloading from 3:00 till it's done.  Let's pitch in and help them all we can!

BIBLE READING FOR JULY - COLOSSIANS
Paul writes to warn Christians against a false teaching that was infiltrating the church, a teaching that said that Christ was good, but that to reach real spiritual maturity you ought to believe certain worldly philosophies.  Paul warns the Colossians about the danger of trusting worldly wisdom or institutions.  He encourages them to focus on Jesus Christ and His saving work.  Jesus is the Creator, fully divine and fully the head of the church.  He's all we ever need.

Hope Notes 7-19-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~
We're going to switch gears this summer and look at some of the most familiar stories in the Bible.  We'll be going to the Old Testament book of Daniel.  The second half of the book deals with Biblical prophecy, but we will be focusing on the first six chapters.  From the three men in the fiery furnace, to Daniel in the lion's den - we will look at these stories and hear God's challenge to each of our hearts to walk by faith - no matter the challenges or situations that arise!

SUNDAY SERVICE
What Are You Doing God?  (Daniel 1:1-7)
Have you ever found yourself asking God this question?  There are times in all of our lives when we wonder what God could possible be thinking in regards to what is happening to us.  Yet the Bible is clear that God is doing GOOD in our lives and that He is faithful always.  The beginning of the book of Daniel finds some young men who can probably identify with our question to God.  Let's look at what they had to face and try to gain wisdom from their experience.

SUNDAY SERVICE

Core Value #2 – Sacrifice

Hope is a unique church for many different reasons.  Part of that is the emphasis we place on the value of sacrifice in our lives.   Very few valuable things are gained or accomplished without sacrifice.  Certainly, God showed us the way by His example in sacrificing his life for our salvation.   Following our Lord will mean a path of sacrifice – but giving with a purpose instead of just wasting our sacrifice on meaningless things.  How ready are you to go beyond convenience and casual giving – our answer to that question will have a huge impact on what God is doing at Hope!

Hope Notes 7-5-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~

Hope you all had a great Fourth of July!  Aren't we blessed to live in this great country?

SUNDAY SERVICE
Paul's Friends - (Col 4:7-8)
How deeply is your life affected by your friends?  Paul closes the book of Colossians by giving us some insight into the friends in his life.  By reading about them, we can learn about the types of friends we need in our lives and the attitudes that should permeate our relationships.  Maybe your relationships could use some help, or maybe you just need a reminder about God's plan in them - in any case, let's finish this study in Colossians together and thank God for the friends He has given us!

Set Up:  We need more people to help set up the chairs, kids rooms, etc. for the service.  We'd like to set up a rotation so that you don't need to commit to EVERY week, but we need more volunteers to do so.  See Bob Baumiester.

PRAYER REQUESTS
Note:  For those who have been wondering - a prayer request generally stays in the Hope Notes for a few weeks.  After that, we assume that people have added it to their prayer lists and are praying regularly on their own.
Mike Nichols - Steve Bradshaw's friend.  For protection.  His home situation is not good.  He hasn't been allowed to speak to Steve for about a month now.
Doleen Pierce - For peace while searching for new living quarters and while preparing for knee replacement surgery.
Bob & Lisa Mousely - For baby RJ's health.  For more details and up-to-date information, go to www.carepages.com.
Employment Needs - Angela Hickey (Communications), Mike Elliot (IT / Computers), Donnamarie Mannall (Dental Assistant), Tom Hickey (Needs something that won't keep him on his feet for long periods)

Help us to remember to pray, Lord.  Not just for these specific requests, but "in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Ph 4:6

Needing Only Him,

Lois
