Hope Notes 10-27-2005

Dear Friends of Hope ~

Guess what time of year it is!!  It's time to TURN BACK YOUR CLOCKS at midnight Saturday night.  Of course, if you forget, you will get to church an hour early and have unlimited access to the coffee & donuts!

Pastor Mark has a few "projects" for us as a church this November:

LAUREN'S CHRISTMAS GIFT
We want to remember our missionary in Guatemala, Lauren Pupchick at Christmas.  Every week in November, we will have envelopes for giving to Lauren.  This will not be "support", but a direct gift to her!  We need to encourage those who serve the kingdom by leaving their homes to spread the Good News.  This is a simple way to show her that we care, that we're behind her, that we remember her and are praying for her.  It also gives us a chance to tell her how proud we are of her and her ministry!

MONTHLY BIBLE READING
Pastor Mark has designated the book of 1st John  as a suggested reading for us to do together during the month of November.  Since it is a short letter, we should try to read it all the way through at one sitting, or we could split it up over the month.  Here's a verse to whet your appetite:  "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God."  1 John 3:1

SMALL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
We are looking for some men and women to help Ed Yost with a project that needs completion at his home.  We don't have a date yet, but would like to find a day to get working before it gets too cold!  See or call Kevin Willmot if you are interested and he will coordinate getting the group together!  Phone:  931-4231

The deadline for OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD is almost here.  We have pamphlets on the side table with details and instructions.  Basically, you fill a shoebox with goodies for a boy or girl, wrap it up, and bring it to Hope no later than Sunday, November 13th.  See Melissa McGinness with any questions

ADULT FELLOWSHIP at Brian & Naidona Ott's home (Sr High & Up) November 5th.   We plan to start this evening of fellowship with a HAYRIDE!  We will meet at "The Rock" camp on Delsea Dr. in Franklinville at 4:30.  Cost is $6 per person.  Be sure to sign up to reserve your spot!  After wards, we will head over to Brain & Naidona's for a time of fellowship and fun (probably some good snacks, too!).  If you can't make the hayride, just come on over to the Ott's from 6:30 - 8:00.

ADULT VOLLEYBALL (Sr High & Up) November 11th from 7-9:00pm.  We are making arrangements to use the Five Points Volleyball center.  We may even be able to get a basketball court that night!  There is NO COST involved.  You don't have to pay to come and fellowship!

ADULT CHRISTMAS PARTY (yes- Sr High & Up) coming up on December 16th.  Mark your calendars now, we know how busy that time of year gets!

GIRLS OF HOPE BIBLE STUDY IS HERE!!  We will have our first study on Tuesday, November 1st from 7:00 - 8:15 at Lois Hartwell's home in Williamstown (co-leader Emily Hartwell).  As a teen, it can sometimes be tough to stay true to your Christian commitment and still feel like you fit in.  Take heart; it is  possible to be a Christian and still be cool!  We will be using Scripture to tackle issues you deal with every day and learning how to deepen your relationship with God.  I will be contacting everyone who signed up with directions, etc.  Call me at 629-9572 if you have any questions!

The WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY meets here at Hope from 7:00 - 8:30 (or so).  We are winding up our study of Galatians.  This is a super way to get to know God's Word, give yourself a mid-week spiritual boost, and get connected to fellow "friends of Hope".  We do provide child care.  Coming in November - "Becoming a Contagious Christian".

ITEMS NEEDED
Our Children's Ministry is in need of juice boxes, animal crackers, & pretzels.  We would appreciate contributions.

WORKERS NEEDED
We are still in great need of volunteers for our children's ministry. You can help with infants, toddlers, pre-school, and right on up through 6th graders!  If teaching is not your gift, don't worry.  We can always use helpers!

Lois

An Addendum to this week's Hope Notes

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to pass along a request to everyone.  We're looking to put together a team to help with a construction project at Ed Yost's house.  We want to help him get this project done.  I was thinking of it as a men's work project, but last night at Bible Studay, the ladies suggested that maybe they could put together some refreshments and stuff so they could have a hand in it too!

So, if you'd be interested in lending a hand (even if you're not particularly handy), we can use all the men who are willing!!  Contact me at this email address or contact Kevin Willmot for more information (Phone: 931-4231 email: xrsizeme@yahoo.com).  We'll pick a date when we have an idea of what time and date works for most people.  Pray that God will enable us to show how much we care through this project!!

Thanks -
Pastor Mark

Hope Notes 10-20-2005

Dear Friends of Hope ~

God dried up all the rain for trip to the Scarecrow Hollow corn maze last Saturday.  It was a beautiful, fall day with blue skies, puffy clouds, and crisp breezes.  An awesome sunset was seen during the hay ride, followed by a brilliant moon for the evening's "flashlight maze".  Reports have it that Angela and Tom Hickey were seen jumping out of the cornfield to scare unsuspecting "hayriders"!  If you had to miss this hayride, be sure to catch the following one:

ADULT VOLLEYBALL (Sr High & Up) November 11th from 7-9:00pm.  We meeting at the Five Points Volleyball center.  We'll have an evening of fun, exercise, and (I'm sure) some good hearted competition!  But even if you just want to come to spectate and fellowship - everyone's welcome!

Hope Notes 10-15-2005

Dear Friends of Hope ~

Thank you to all who shared their testimonies during our service this past Sunday.  I don't believe anyone could walk away from that and doubt God's existence.  He is alive and working in the lives of His people.  May you take encouragement and hope from everything that was said.

We look forward to welcoming Pastor Mark and his family back this Sunday!  Praise God that they have been able to enjoy some much needed time together to relax and have fun.

I am very excited about a new Bible study for our teenage girls, GIRLS OF HOPE.
This is for girls 6th -12th grade.  I know it sounds like a big age group, but remember, God has His hand in this and we can work together.  If you think you might be interested, please put your name on the sign-up along with what nights / location would be best for you.  That way, we can design a study that meets your needs.  I am really looking forward to starting the study and connecting with all of our girls.
