Hope Notes 8-28-08

Dear Friends of Hope,

Have you started the back-to-school frenzy yet? Buying school supplies, new outfits, lunch box treats, and calming nervous children seem to be top priorities right now. But don't forget the most important preparation - prayer! We can pray for our children as they head off to new classrooms, pray for their teachers, the administrators, for all the other children at school, and for all parents as they endeavor to get through another school year!

SUNDAY SERMON

8/31 – Fixing Where We're Leaking

A leaking boat is eventually going to sink – it's just a matter of time. And leaks that go unaddressed become bigger leaks. At Hope, we're not perfect. We're just people trying to be as faithful as we can be. But there are moments where God brings to our attention some issues and areas where we can stop leaking! Let's be humble and willing to closely examine where we need to change. The difference between some business sinking and our church sinking is an eternal difference! We can't afford to ignore our leaks!

BIBLE READING FOR AUGUST - TITUS

Titus is a compact book that reminds believers of the importance of connecting their actions to their faith. In this letter, Paul reminds a young minister that although Christians are saved through faith and not through good works, good works must still be a part of real faith.

Hope Notes 08-21-08

Dear Friends of Hope,

Over the next five weeks, Hope needs EVERYONE to join us as we focus on what God wants us to be doing as a church. God has provided us with a wonderful place to worship and minister – now we have to examine what it takes for us to take full advantage of this opportunity. We all know that we're not near done in our mission – our world needs hope! In fact, we each need it on a daily basis. So where do we need to adjust – what is slipping by unnoticed – how can we see God's power unleashed in our church? Don't miss a minute of these next five weeks as God takes us on a journey, and we expectantly look for God to move in our hearts and in our church!

SUNDAY SERMON - COMMUNION SUNDAY

8/24 – Our Cause

Why does Hope Christian Fellowship exist? What does God want each of us to be doing? If we don't have a clear answer to these questions, we will never be effective at working as a team and as individuals in bringing real hope to this world. We will take this morning to look at the cause God has called us to and to revisit our mission as a church. This is such an important moment in the history of Hope – let's join our hearts and ask the Lord to really stir us to the deepest parts of our soul so that our mission is crystal clear, and our people are joined together as one so that the "gates of hell will not prevail against us!"

CD'S AVAILABLE

Please remember that our services are available on CD immediately following the service for FREE! Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone they want to share Hope with. Pastor Mark's messages are also available on our website, http://www.hopechristianfellowship.org/.

BIBLE READING FOR AUGUST - GALATIANS

We can achieve our goals in life through many avenues, but when it comes to salvation, God says there is only one way: through the grace of God demonstrated in Christ's sacrifice for us on the cross. In his letter to the Galations, Paul deals with a church in which some had been deceived into believing they had to keep certain Jewish laws to be saved.

Hope Notes 7/14/08

Dear Friends of Hope,

I had a glimpse of the magnificence of God last Sunday during that amazing hailstorm. Sometimes we need a little reminder of who He is, how powerful He is, and how the heavens and the earth are truly under His control!

SUNDAY SERMON

Steps to Stay on Track (Nehemiah 13)

Finishing what you start is such a difficult task. Even spiritually, we are often stirred to make changes, only to wilt under the pressure of time. Is it just impossible to keep going in the right spiritual direction, or are there ways that we can keep moving forward? Nehemiah finishes his story by describing several steps he takes to make sure that what has been started (both symbolically by rebuilding the wall, and in reality by the spiritual awakening of the Israelites) will continue on track!

Hope Notes 08-07-08

Dear Friends of Hope,

Sunday morning is a precious time set aside to focus on our God and to worship Him. Let's not let the enemy distract us by having us focus on doing church business, talking to friends, worrying about other things, or complaining about problems. We need to leave all our distractions at the door and ask the Lord to give us the mind set of total concentration on Him.

SUNDAY SERMON

Mission Outreach

Our focus at Hope in 2008 has been outreach, and we have been looking for God's leading in ways to share the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ with our world. Today, we want to welcome Linda Phillips on behalf of a missionary that we want to take on for support as a church - Joy Phillips. She is a missionary serving the Lord in the Sudan, sharing the Good News with these people. Linda will be sharing her sister's ministry with us so that we can pray for Joy and begin to financially support God's calling in her life.
