Hope Notes 5-29-2008

Dear Friends of Hope ~
Many of the small groups have wound down for the summer. Are you feeling the loss of connection? Well, let's get busy and fill that void! Invite some people over for a cookout, maybe go out for some mini-golf, have a game night or whatever appeals most to you. We need to be deliberate in meeting new people and strengthening old friendships so that we can continue to be a warm and friendly church that is so good at connecting with one another!

SUNDAY SERVICE
Unexpected Help (Nehemiah 2:1-10)
What am I going to do now? This is such a common question in our lives - especially when we feel like we're stuck in a bad situation. Sometimes, we think we know a solution, and sometimes we have no idea. In times like this, we can feel desperate or even depressed. But Nehemiah had a similar situation, and God provided help for him in a way that no one would ever have expected. That is sometimes how God works so that we know it is His work to help us, and so that we will live by faith, even when it looks like we have no way out.
CD'S AVAILABLE
Please remember that our services are available on CD immediately following the service for FREE! Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone they want to share Hope with. Pastor Mark's messages are also available on our website, www.hopechristianfellowship.org.
BIBLE READING FOR JUNE - GENESIS
Genesis means "beginnings" and that's what this book is about! It tells of the creation of the universe and how God brought us into this world. It also tells of how sin intruded into the world and ruined what had been a perfect relationship between God and His most prized creation - us. Genesis tells of another beginning, too. It tells how God began to work out His plan for our salvation through His chosen people.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
FOOD SHOWER
June 8th
It has been brought to our (Deacons) attention that there is a family at Hope going through a difficult financial situation. We are scheduling a Food Shower for Sunday June 8th. Please bring any non-perishables or food gift certificates to church. Let us show the love of Jesus to this family as they continue to trust the Lord with their needs and look for employment.
GIVING REPORT
Average weekly giving in May was $2289. Average weekly giving for the year is $2325. Both of these are a little behind our annual target of $2400/week. We all need to keep this in prayer as we look forward towards land opportunities and our potential growth!
BILL McGINNESS
Now is the time to help support Bill as he ministers with the Saints Prison Ministry softball team. The prison mission field is ripe for the harvest; many of these young men have never been shown the love of Christ before, and every summer there is a great response to the gospel message. Please prayerfully consider supporting Bill financially as he needs to raise $1000 (and we've collected about $450 so far), and the deadline is quickly approaching. Just write Bill's name on the envelopes provided in the back and make the check payable to Hope.
HARVEST CRUSADE
October 3rd thru 5th
There are some wonderful opportunities available for us here at Hope to be a part of the Harvest Crusade. You can be a part of the "Follow Up Team" that receives all the cards for people who made decisions for Christ at the crusade in our local area. You will then have the opportunity to call these people and invite them to Hope. Al Lewis & Ellen Jones are heading up the Follow Up Team. If you would like to be a part of this, contact Al at lewis@voorhees.k12.nj.us with any questions.
In addition, there are classes available for those who would like to be ushers or counselors at the crusade.
A sign up sheet is in the back of the church for anyone interested in any of these opportunities.
Contact Lois Hartwell (foolsforchrist7@yahoo.com) or Karen Jones with any questions regarding the Harvest Crusade. We need to have these positions in place by June 1st.

Hope Notes 5-22-2008

Dear Friends of Hope ~
Last Sunday's service at the synagogue showed me yet again how God meets us where ever we gather to worship Him. It doesn't matter if we are in someones backyard, in a beautiful conference room, in a fire hall with a disco ball, or even in a Jewish synagogue. God is there with us. It pleases Him for us to come together as a body and worship Him. It doesn't matter one bit where we are!

SUNDAY SERVICE
A Heartbreaking Need to Build - (Nehemiah 1)
We are trying our best to build at hope. We have been praying for some time that the Lord would give us the opportunity to have a permanent home for our church. We have been saving each month and watching God bless our faithfulness in giving. But we are just as concerned with building our people and our church family. We're going to take some time to look at the stories in Nehemiah and see how God works in His people as it grows evident that it is time to build!
CD'S AVAILABLE
Please remember that our services are available on CD immediately following the service for FREE! Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone they want to share Hope with. Pastor Mark's messages are also available on our website, www.hopechristianfellowship.org.
BIBLE READING FOR MAY - ROMANS
Romans is the apostle Paul's most theological letter and answers the question, "How can sinful man be accepted by a holy God?" The first eleven chapters offer the most straightforward, easily understood explanation of the plan of salvation that can be found in the New Testament. Romans can definitely help you explain to non-believers why they need to know Jesus and how they can receive His free gift of salvation.

Hope Notes 5-15-2008

Dear Friends of Hope ~
Don't come to church this Sunday! At least, don't come to the fire hall. Remember, this is the Sunday we are meeting at the synagogue in Woodbury to "test" our worship service there. It will be extra special because we are having Communion. Don't worry..........God won't get lost. He's already there - ready for us to come and worship Him!

SUNDAY SERVICE
COMMUNION AT THE SYNAGOGUE
God's Gifts - 2Thess 3:16-18
God gives. We are tempted to think that He takes, but His Word clearly tells us that He gives. As we finish our study in 2Thessalonians, we will see some pretty amazing stuff that God gives to His children. Actually, it is an "exclusive offer" - no one else can give these things! On the day that we remember God's biggest gift (His Son), it is important for us to see how much God has given us.

HELP US MOVE
May 17 @ 10:00
Meet at Hope with your vans and pickup trucks to help us load the sound equipment and get it over to the synagogue. We will also need help getting things back to Hope after the service Sunday morning.
CD'S AVAILABLE
Please remember that our services are available on CD immediately following the service for FREE! Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone they want to share Hope with. Pastor Mark's messages are also available on our website, www.hopechristianfellowship.org.

Hope Notes 5-8-2008

Dear Friends of Hope ~
Mother's Day can be a sorrowful day for some people. There may be those who have recently lost their mother, and mothers who have lost a child. Some have broken relationships with their moms and feel the loss of connection and intimacy. For all the moms and children who have each other alive and well, and who have good relationships with each other - be sure to take time to thank God for all He has given you. And don't forget to let each other know how much you love and appreciate the other person. Happy Mother's Day!

SUNDAY SERVICE
Mother's Day - Making an Eternal Difference
For Mother's Day this year, we will be taking time during our morning service to honor our mothers, and to encourage them about the powerful effect they can have on our world by serving as the mother God made them to be. We will see some of the ways that God designed for mothers to have an impact on the next generation. Let us be reminded of how blessed we are at Hope to have so many faithful mothers, and let's support them with our love and prayers as they fill this vital role in our families.

Hope Notes 5-2-2008

Dear Friends of Hope ~
We're setting aside this Sunday to share with everyone some opportunities to see God's kingdom grow. Hope has set outreach as a priority for 2008, and God has connected us to some very exciting situations. We will see how God has used and is using one of our own men to be a part of hundreds of people receiving Jesus. We will be presenting an opportunity to support a missionary with prayer and possibly a short term missions trip. And we will see ways that each of us can be on the front lines of sharing Jesus with our world. We are so excited to see the harvest that God will bring as we respond to His leading!
SUNDAY SERVICE - OUTREACH SUNDAY
May 4th

Look what's coming on Outreach Sunday!
*The chance to sponsor one of our own for a missions trip this summer.
*The opportunity to sign up for a short term missions trip ourselves.
* A look at how we can be trained in sharing our faith.
* A chance to participate in a huge activity at the Wachovia Center
(for free!) in the fall with top name artists, a clear gospel presentation
and invitation.
Join us on this day as we look at many of the ways God has provided for us to be a part of building God's kingdom. This is something we all need to be a part of - come and see all the opportunities you have to share His love. Then, join in with whichever one(s) fit you best!
