Hope Notes 5-10-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~

Mother's Day is always a special day at Hope.  You don't have to BE a mother to enjoy the service.  We all have mothers to honor, to remember, to be thankful for.  Even if our moms are no longer with us,  we can still honor their memory.  We often have women who are not blood related, but are very much LIKE a mother to us.  God has graciously given us moms to care for us and to love us.  Let us remember to thank Him on this special day, as well.

SUNDAY SERVICE
Mother's Day - Who Wants Me?
We all have our secret doubts and fears.  For many of our mothers, there is a nagging doubt as to whether they are desirable to anyone.  This comes from a natural need to be loved and wanted.  For many women, this desire becomes a desperate, driving force in their lives to find someone who wants them.  What does God say about this and how did He design for this need to be met?  Understanding this truth is key to a joy filled life!

BIBLE READING FOR MAY - 1 SAMUEL
If this book gives us one vital message, it is this: There is no limit to what a person committed to God can do. Remember the battle between the boy David and the giant Goliath?  You'll find that story in Chapter 17.  Samuel (whose name means "asked of God") was a courageous prophet and the man who crowned Israel's first two kings, one of whom was David.

It is amazing to discover how "real" the stories in Genesis are as we look at the lives of these people and see how much we can relate to them.  The Lord is teaching us and bringing a hunger for His Word as we meet together, so try to find a way to join us each Wednesday as we study together!  We  meet at Pastor Mark's house from 7:00 - 8:30 pm.  Childcare is provided.

Charlotte Zediker's friend, Kathy, has a sectional couch available.  You may contact Kathy at 848-6699 or speak to Charlotte.

FROM OUR LAMB'S MINISTRY:
*Parents, please be sure that if your children wear "heelies" (sneakers with wheels) to church, they are not to be used on church grounds due to insurance liabilities.

*NEW DROP OFF TIME FOR 4-6 YEAR OLDS - NO SOONER THAN 10:45 !!!

*As a church body, we have grown lax in following our "Back Door Policy". Please remember that the back area of the church is a classroom and is not to be used as an entrance/exit between 10:45 and for at least 15 minutes following the end of the service.  Thank you!!

BUILDING TEAM
Hope needs help with finding the right location for our home.  We want to put together a team that will meet on a regular basis and work through the maze of possibilities to find what is right for us!  We are looking for people who have some expertise in areas that would be helpful as we evaluate potential buildings for our church home such as real estate, construction, township zoning & building codes.  If anyone has "connections" that might help us with the process, that would be great!  Anyone interested should see Bob Baumiester.

SAINTS PRISON MINISTRY
Bill McGinness is once again working with the Prison Ministry this summer.  He needs to raise $1400 in order to be able to serve on this team.  We would ask everyone to prayerfully consider supporting him.  This is a very effective ministry; over SEVEN HUNDRED prisoners came to Christ last summer!  Checks can be made out to Saints Prison Ministry and given to his wife Melissa, Pastor Mark, or placed in a marked envelope in the offering box.
