Just a "heads up" to let you all know there will not be any Hope Notes coming through your in-boxes next week.  I know, I know, you're all so sad!  Due to some overlapping vacations, no one is available to do them.  But Hope Notes will be back in full swing come the first week of July.  Until then...........

 

SUNDAY SERVICE

A Chance to Share Jesus (Col 4:2-6)

Missed opportunities - we all have them!  It could mean the difference between that promotion and staying in the job you have.  It could mean that you find your true love or that you miss it.  If God were not directing our lives, we could live in obsession and paralyzing fear over this.   Paul is aware of opportunities to share Christ - but these aren't your typical scenarios.  He is in prison, about to go on trial, and he sees it as a chance to share Christ.  What doors are open for you to do the same?  Don't miss these opportunities.

 

BIBLE READING FOR JUNE - 2 PETER

Peter challenges us to take seriously God's call to live a life pleasing to Him.  The day will come when the heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.  "Since everything around us is going to melt away," Peter asks, "what holy, godly lives you should be living!  You should look forward to that day and hurry it along."  Pretty good advice!

 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FELLOWSHIP

 

COSMIC BOWLING

Brunswick Zone in Glassboro is having Cosmic Bowling every Tuesday night from 9-11pm featuring Christian Music.  Cost is $5 to get in, then $1 per game and $1 shoe rental.  They have given us coupons to use that will donate $2 to Hope for every person who uses one.  Coupons are on the info table - you can copy them as many times as you like!

WOMEN OF FAITH CONFERENCE

Each year, our ladies join thousands of women for this amazing conference.  This year's theme is "Amazing Freedom".  Tickets are now available.  Please sign up if you are interested.  See Kathy Berry for more information.

 

SUMMER CAMP

REGISTER NOW!  Summer camp for our young people is such an awesome opportunity for them to have fun and to grow spiritually.  We are organizing a trip to Camp Orchard Hill for our Elementary Kids (July 29- Aug 4), our Junior High Teens (July 15-21), and our Sr High Teens (July 22-28).  See the newsletter Sunday for more info, and get a registration form!  There are also Scholarship Forms for those who need some financial assistance in sending their kids to camp!   It's important to signup at church ALSO so that any families going from Hope can collaborate on travel arrangements, if desired.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY - GENESIS

AT PASTOR MARK'S HOUSE

7:30-8:30 PM 

It is amazing to discover how "real" the stories in Genesis are as we look at the lives of these people and see how much we can relate to them.  The Lord is teaching us and bringing a hunger for His Word as we meet together, so try to find a way to join us each Wednesday as we study together!  We  meet at Pastor Mark's house from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.  Childcare is provided.

 

GIRLS OF HOPE BIBLE STUDY - COLOSSIANS

DONATIONS FOR OUR SOLDIERS IN IRAQ

Lorraine Otis is collecting items to send to our servicemen.  A Rubbermaid box will be out this Sunday through July 23rd for your donations.  Items such as Tastykakes (no chocolate), cereal, beef jerky, chips, pretzels, toiletries, chap stick, socks. etc. are all greatly appreciated.  You can bring such happiness to these men & women with very little effort.  Let's try and thank them for all the sacrifices they are making for us!

 

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE

Projector:    We need help with the words for the worship songs.  See Melissa McGinness.

Bathrooms:  We could use some help cleaning the bathrooms by about 10:00 am before the service.  See Jessica St. Petery.

Set Up:  We need more people to help set up the chairs, kids rooms, etc. for the service.  We'd like to set up a rotation so that you don't need to commit to EVERY week, but we need more volunteers to do so.  See Bob Baumiester.

Sound:  Anyone with some experience in this area can plug in here.  See Steve Jones.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Note:  For those who have been wondering - a prayer request generally stays in the Hope Notes for a few weeks.  After that, we assume that people have added it to their prayer lists and are praying regularly on their own.

June Elliot - Needs healing and relief from pain due to herniated discs.  Also, they have no health insurance right now, so options for treatment are limited. 

Ed Yost - Pray for his family as they deal with the loss of his Uncle George.  For Ed waiting on information about a mass in his kidney & liver and an infection throughout his body.  For friend, Amanda Wurster, recovering from a car accident.

Doleen Pierce - For peace while searching for new living quarters and while preparing for knee replacement surgery.

Scott Pierce - (Doleen's son) Losing touch with his faith and returning to alcohol.

Melissa McGinness - For the Lord's guidance & healing for her friends:  Dan Kirkby w/cancerous brain tumor and Brian Nikolich w/Lou Gherig's Disease.

Pamela Brian & Jason Fein - For the doctor's wisdom in determining the cause of their daughter Rose's health issues.

Bob & Lisa Mousely - For baby RJ's health.  He had a severe attack this week and may need surgery.  For more details and up-to-date information, go to www.carepages.com.

Employment Needs - Angela Hickey (Communications), Mike Elliot (IT / Computers), Donnamarie Mannall (Dental Assistant), Tom Hickey (Needs something that won't keep him on his feet for long periods)

 

Help us to remember to pray, Lord.  Not just for these specific requests, but "in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Ph 4:6
