Hope Notes 9-27-2007

Dear Friends of Hope ~
Who or what has God laid on your heart to pray for lately?  Take a look around on Sunday mornings - there before you lies a whole congregation of prayer needs!  Want to know a secret???  When I can't fall asleep at night, I sometimes try and go through the faces at Hope row by row and pray for them.  It's better than counting sheep, for sure.  Hey, I guess I actually AM counting sheep - God's sheep!

SUNDAY SERVICE
The Gospel Changes You (1Thess 1:5-10)
Are you a different person than you used to be?  If you have personally received Jesus Christ as your Savior, you ARE a different person.  The gospel came to bring dramatic change to our lives.  Paul descrives some of these changes that we should expect and embrace as believers.  These are not little, subtle changes.  Rather, they are an evidence that your lives are not what they once were, and everything about our goals and pattern of living is pointed in a different direction.

UPCOMING COMMUNION SERVICES

BIBLE READING FOR OCTOBER - MATTHEW
The gospel of Matthew presents Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of the centuries-old promise that a Messiah would save the Jewish people.  There are about sixty references to Old Testament prophecies throughout the book, and we see many instances where Jesus fufilled those prophecies, thus showing Himself to be the Messiah the Jewish people had been waiting for.
