Hope Notes 1-10-2008

Dear Friends of Hope ~

In order to get the most out of each sermon, let's make a resolution to keep the service as distraction free as possible. One easy way to do this is to simply sit towards the back if you know that you need to be up and down during the service because of young children, etc.  This way, we can all focus on what God has to say to us through Pastor Mark!

 

SUNDAY SERVICE - CATCHING YOUR FLIGHT

1Thess 4:13-18)

Do you ever wonder what God's plan is for this word?  Paul gives us a glimpse of what God has planned for His children.  Jesus will return and we'll go flying up to meet Him!  Sound unbelievable?  You've underestimated God!  This gathering of His children will begin God's plan for the conclusion of history and the beginning of eternity.  We'll find encouragement and hope as we see what God has planned for us.

BIBLE READING FOR JANUARY- JOSHUA

Joshua was a man who knew what it took to live a victorious life for God.  He truly put his faith in God into action. He was obedient to God's call in his life.   With God on our side, there's nothing we can't accomplish and no enemy we can't defeat.

For ALL ages - The cost is $8 per person and includes 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and soda.

 

FAITH & FAMILY NIGHT AT THE PHANTOMS

Friday, March 14

We are interested in getting a group together to attend this event. There will be a post game concert. We need 20 people to sign up. The cost would be $15 for adults and $10 for kids (14 and under). See Anne Owens on Sunday if you are interested.

LADIES BIBLE STUDY

Resumes Thursday, 1/10 from 10:00 - 12:00 at Melissa Angel's home.  Study meets every other week - contact Melissa with any questions at quadangels@comcast.net.

 

MEN'S BIBLE STUDY

The mid-week Bible study held at Mike Hartwell's home will resume on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:30.

 

JOURNEY THROUGH GRIEF

January 18 - 7:00 pm at Lorraine Otis' house (686-1557)

 

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY

7:30-8:30 pm at Pastor Mark's house

We're continuing our study to find out "Do You Have to Live Stressed Out?"   We had a great turnout last night, but we have room for you too!  Don't miss this chance to learn how to enjoy the peace God gives!

 

SMALL GROUPS

We offer a variety of Small Groups here at Hope.  We have groups for men, women, teen girls, teen boys, and an assortment of groups teaching on specific topics.  You can pick up a flyer with full descriptions on the front table, and contact the leaders with any questions.  NOW is the time to plug in and get connected!

MEETINGS:

January 20 Music Ministry

Following the morning worship at the firehall. We'll get some pizza or something and take about an hour to meet together.  All those involved in the music ministry should plan to join in to discuss some important matters that will help us be as effective as possible.  If you are interested in joining this ministry, see Dana Ott or simply come to the meeting!

January 27  Infants & Toddlers

There will be a brief meeting for the workers in the Infants & Toddlers ministry upstairs immediately following the service.  See LaTosha Briggs.

January 27 4-6 Year Olds

There will be a meeting at 3:00 at Debbie Bradshaw's house for those involved in the 4-6 Year olds.

January 27  Deacons & Deaconesses Board

To be held at Pastor Mark's house at 5:30 pm.  Pizza, then the meeting!

 

LAMB'S MINISTRY

A big thank you to all who donated juice and snacks.  Our cupboards are once again full.

 

REMINDER TO PARENTS:

*Please be mindful not to bring your child to the program on Sunday mornings if he/she is sick.

* For safety reasons, ONLY PARENTS are authorized to drop off and pick up their child from the children's program.
