Hope Notes 8/9/12
Dear Friends of Hope~
Have you ever experienced the sting of rejection? I think all of us have – more times than we would like! You don't get the job, the raise, or the position you want. You don't get asked to the dance, make the cheerleading squad, or invited to the party. A relationship you treasured ends. A relationship you'd like to initiate just doesn't seem to go anywhere. All these things can leave us wounded and discouraged. But have you ever considered that rejection just might be God's protection over us? After all, God knows far better than we do what is actually healthy and good for us. He knows what will promote spiritual growth and what will hinder it. He knows what the future holds; we don't even know what the rest of today will bring! So, the next time rejection bites you, make an effort to view things from God's perspective and see if you can't find the possibility of His love and protection at work.
SUNDAY MESSAGE
8/12 – Teen Service
Paul tells Timothy that youth is no disqualification to being used by God's Spirit to minister to others. Since that is the truth, we have the awesome privilege of turning our service this Sunday over to our teens. They will be leading us and Dave will be sharing the Word. Let's support our youth group this Sunday as they lead our worship service!
MESSAGES AVAILABLE
Did you know that Sunday's worship service is available on CD immediately following the service for FREE? Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone you would like to share Hope with. Pastor Mark's messages are also available on our website, www.hopechristianfellowship.org.
SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER TIME
Our Sunday morning prayer time is open to everyone. We start at 9:15 am in one of the classrooms. We pray for the services that morning and for the needs in the church. If you would like to participate, just show up! Contact Pat Harkin at Prayer Team with any questions.
CHILDREN'S MINISTRY PRAYER TIME
All Sunday School and Nursery teachers/helpers are invited to come join us in the Toddler Classroom every Sunday from 9:40 – 9:45 for a time of prayer before the children begin arriving.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH
AUGUST CHALLENGE VERSE
Ephesians 4:2-3 "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
AUGUST PRAYER PROJECT
For our children – those who are growing and learning, those who have wandered away, those who are making poor choices, those who are caught in the enemy's web – For our Kid's ministry at Hope – our workers, and for God to lead us to the right person to be our Kid's Ministry Director, and for our kids each week to know Jesus and to understand His love for them - that God would prepare them for a life lived in His power and by His direction!
WEDNESDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FELLOWSHIP
NEW FAMILIES FELLOWSHIP
August 26th
Our Leadership Team is hosting a New Families luncheon here at Hope for families who have begun attending within the past year. So many new families have been visiting lately that we want to set aside some time specifically to get to know one another. We value relationships and are excited to have this opportunity to make these connections by fellowshipping with each other. A signup sheet is on the table in the lobby.

SMALL GROUPS
It's really not too early to start praying and think about forming a small group in September. Our church depends on the connections, caring, and spiritual interaction that happens in a small group. Our goal is for every adult to be a part of one! More specific info will be given at our Small Group kickoff on September 9th. In the meantime, we'd like everyone to be praying and seeking the Lord's direction in anticipation of this important part of our church family life!

PRAYER REQUESTS
Mark Ott – For his nephew Aaron (14 yrs old) who has a brain tumor and is scheduled for surgery 8/10. The tumor is not believed to be cancer, but must be biopsied. His pituitary & thyroid functions have stopped as a result of the tumor and there is concern about his vision due to the location. They are a family of believers but will need an extra measure of faith for this journey. Please pray for God's presence to be known each day, and for a successful surgery and recovery.
Skip & Ann Gillen – Skip recently lost his job. There are ongoing events involving their daughter and grandchildren. Asking for renewed strength and faith for them as these newest events make their situation heavier.
Laura Blake & Frank Aquino - Please pray for the Aquino family who lost a family member suddenly (Grandpop Frank). Also for Grandmom Gene who is not doing well.
Kids Ministry Director - Please pray for God to connect us with the right people at the right time and let Him have His work in all of this!
Only by His Grace,
Lois
