Hope Notes 7/16/09

Dear Friends of Hope ~

Hope celebrates our 5th anniversary this week!  I remember the first time we attended Hope; it was in the Baumiester's back yard by the pool with a very small group of people.  It was a beautiful, balmy day and I remember looking around at the palm trees (fake) and thinking what a curious, yet somehow perfect, setting for church.  The next time we were at Hope it was at the Friends of Israel with a gorgeous view of snow covered trees outside a large picture window.  From there we traveled to the somewhat dingy fire hall with it's disco ball.  By this time it didn't matter WHAT the setting; we knew God was present and we were worshipping Him.  So, here we are at a synagogue; sharing space with God's chosen people.  Again, curious yet somehow perfect.

SUNDAY SERMON

7/19 – 5th Anniversary Service

It is hard to believe that Hope is turning 5!  How the Lord has blessed us!!  We are setting aside this morning as a time of worship and praise – giving thanks to the Lord out of hearts that are overflowing with gratitude for all that the Lord has done.  We'll also share a fellowship time after the service with a picnic at church, so it will be an unforgettable day.  Please come and join us and celebrate with us the goodness of the Lord and how He has been working at Hope.  Certainly, all the glory belongs to Him.  And we look forward together to all that the Lord is going to do in the years to come.

CD'S AVAILABLE

Please remember that our services are available on CD immediately following the service for FREE!  Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone they want to share Hope with.  Pastor Mark's messages are also available on our website, www.hopechristianfellowship.org

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER TIME

Our Sunday morning prayer time is open to everyone. We start at 9:15 am in one of the classrooms. We pray for the services that morning and for the needs in the church.

BIBLE READING FOR JULY - 2 CORINTHIANS

2 Corinthians gives us a picture of what a heart for ministry is like.  Paul pours out his heart about his own ministry, his motives for that ministry, and the suffering he faced as a result.  In the end, it becomes clear that it is Paul's love for Christ and for the Corinthians that motivates him to sacrifice himself for the Good News.  This letter gives us a great example of the kind of motivation we need if we want to reach others for Christ.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH

COUPLES DEVOTIONAL BOOKS

We have a devotional book for married couples out on the back table.  Pick one up for you and your spouse so that you can feel the benefit of spending time together in God's Word, being in prayer together, and making the Lord the center of your relationship. Invest some time in your marriage and in your connection with the Lord and watch how He blesses you!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY

Come and join us as we look through the book of Genesis.  Study is from 7:30 - 8:30 pm every Wednesday.  Childcare is available.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FELLOWSHIP

HOPE'S 5TH ANNIVERSARY SERVICE / BBQ - THIS SUNDAY

Sunday July 19

Reminder - we will be setting up and staging tables and chairs on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until noon.  As the Amish say, "Many hands, light work."  Even if you can only come out for just one hour, it would be greatly appreciated.  We will also need help tearing down after the BBQ, so if you can stick around for awhile, that would be great!
