Hope Notes 10/2/08

Dear Friends of Hope ~

Let's really try and remember our Jewish friends as they go to Hebrew School during the time we are here for worship. We need to make the hallway a "Quiet Zone" and speak softly. Better yet, let's take our conversations into the front narthex or the back of the sanctuary! We want to be a good witness for them and to show respect for their traditions.

SUNDAY SERMON - COMMUNION SUNDAY

10/5 – We Need Elders (Titus 1:5-9)

Part of the reason for Paul's letter to Titus was to give instruction on the appointment of elders in the churches. At Hope, one of our next steps of growth is to begin pursuing this Biblical model of leadership by men called to be elders over this church. We will take this morning to look at the qualifications of a man called to be an elder, and the role they are to take in the church. We are praying that the Lord will provide us with the men to fill this role at Hope and lead us according to God's plan.

CD'S AVAILABLE

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER TIME

Our Sunday morning prayer time is open to everyone who attends. We will be starting at 9:15 am in one of the classrooms. We pray for the services that morning and for the needs in the church.

BIBLE READING FOR OCTOBER - JOB

Job was rich, married with ten children, and had the respect of his peers. Most importantly, he loved God. Yet God allowed Satan to test Job by taking everything from him. His wife told him to "curse God and die" and his three "friends" kept insisting he must have done something horrible to deserve his fate. Job knew that wasn't true; and although he never got an answer as to why he had to suffer, he got something much better. But you'll have to read for yourself to find out what!
